    About PA12 Nylon

PA12 (Polyamide 12), also known as Nylon 12, is a high-performance thermoplastic material ideal for Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D printing. It offers an exceptional balance of strength, flexibility, and durability, making it suitable for both functional prototypes and end-use parts.

Our PA12 parts are manufactured using industrial-grade SLS equipment with premium Nylon 12 Powder, ensuring consistent quality and reliable mechanical properties. The powder-bed fusion process eliminates the need for support structures, enabling complex geometries including moving assemblies, living hinges, and intricate details.

Available Technology: SLS (Selective Laser Sintering)

PA12 excels in applications requiring impact resistance, chemical resistance, and wear resistance. The material maintains its properties across a wide temperature range and can be easily post-processed for enhanced surface finish, including dyeing for color customization.

    Key Advantages

    No Support Structures
Powder acts as support, enabling complex geometries without support removal
    High Strength-to-Weight Ratio
Strong yet lightweight, perfect for functional components
    Chemical Resistant
Excellent resistance to oils, greases, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and bases
    Biocompatible
Meets ISO 10993-1 and USP Class VI standards for skin contact
    Living Hinges
Thin sections remain flexible, ideal for snap-fit assemblies and hinges
    Excellent Surface Finish
Natural matte grey finish, can be dyed black for professional appearance
    Watertight Parts
Parts can be made watertight with proper design and post-processing
    ESD Protection Available
Can be post-processed for static-dissipative properties

    Considerations & Limitations

Moisture Absorption: PA12 is hygroscopic and can absorb moisture from the air, which may affect dimensional stability in humid environments. Store parts in dry conditions.
UV Sensitivity: Prolonged exposure to UV light can cause yellowing and material degradation. Not recommended for outdoor applications without UV protection.
Surface Texture: Natural finish has a slightly porous, matte texture. Dyed parts show reduced porosity but may still have visible grain.
Temperature Limitations: Not suitable for continuous use above 80°C (176°F). Heat deflection temperature is 169°C at 0.45 MPa.
Part Orientation: Mechanical properties can vary slightly based on print orientation, particularly for thin-walled features.
